Astell Search FAQs
Commonly asked questions about Astell Search
What does Astell search for?
Astell searches across the data you've synced from connected tools so you can find relevant messages, tasks, documents, files, and other workspace content in one place.
Do I need to tell Astell where to search?
No. By default, Astell searches across all connected sources. If you want to narrow results, you can specify in your chat to focus on a specific source, time range, or content type.
How is Astell search different from keyword search?
Astell search doesn't rely on exact keyword matches. It combines keyword and semantic search to retrieve results based on meaning. It then uses context such as the source system, author, change history, and related items like threads, tickets, and pull requests to rank what is most relevant.
What search filters are available?
You can filter results by things like source, date range, file/content type. AI models allow you to set filters using natural language (See Standard vs. Advanced Models FAQs).
Does search consume tokens?
No. Search is free and unlimited. Tokens are only used for Processed Data ingestion. (See Native vs. Processed Data).
How far back does search go?
Search covers all synced data, regardless of age. If you've synced historical data, it's searchable.
